“White chocolate is not chocolate, and I will not be drawn further. It is, however, Milkybar, which is a different argument entirely.”

Best enjoyed Cold, and more of it than is sensible

White chocolate, which is to say cocoa butter, milk and sugar with no cocoa solids in it at all. Nestlé launched it in 1936, and it is generally reckoned to be the first white chocolate bar anyone sold.

What makes it Milkybar rather than simply white chocolate is the Milkybar Kid, who has been on British television since 1961 and whose jingle is lodged permanently in the head of everyone who grew up with it.

Sweet, soft, and gone in about four bites.
